The Banners Are Up!!

Well, most of them. Great news, the crowdfunding last year has delivered, and many of the lampposts in Denmark Hill are now displaying their banners. The banner design incorporates the new Camberwell identity graphics based on the wedge shaped bricks used to make traditional wells. Six of them have been delayed since the Council have been slow to take down the Christmas lights.

Shortly, the graphic images will be available to designers for free use in their documents and displays as they would like.

It's the Bins!! Consultation on Timed Collection for the Main Roads

Southwark has launched a consultation on their proposal to introduce timed collection for waste on Church St / Denmark Hill / Coldharbour Lane and a short way up adjoining side streets (a map in the intro of the consultation shows the affected area). If you live or have a business in this area you will have a "put-waste-out" time slot that will be followed immediately by a "timed-waste-collection" slot. This means that the streets should be waste free for 20 out of 24 hours. And it means that the big 4 wheel commercial bins will be gone. Hurrah! And the council will be able to wash the pavements. Hurrah again!

The only question in the consultation is what time do you want to put your waste out. There is also a box for comments. So this consultation is for you if you live in the affected area. If you live outside the area you might be interested to encourage the timing to be such that the streets look their best during business hours of a) shopping and b) evening eating and pubbing.

The consultation can be found here: http://www.camberwellsociety.org.uk/rw_common/plug...

It closes on 26th Jan.
