Through the work of the sub-committee, the Society has been instrumental in saving many buildings of note including Addington Square, Denmark Hill Station and part of Windsor Walk. The Society has also been instrumental in influencing new development to make a positive contribution to the area, and works with local residents and tenants groups where there are common issues. The current composition of the Planning sub-committee is: Tim Gaymer, Anthony Kyrke-Smith, Elizabeth Borowiecka, Jason Leech, Robert Potz, Jonathan Hunt, Paul Cohoon, Somayya Yaqub, Michael Galt and Tom Harvey. Potential new members are welcome to attend a meeting as an observer initially. The Society is currently under represented by members from the Myatt Fields and Brunswick Park areas.

Conversion of property known as no.64 and no.64a Peckham Road from a 1 x 3 and a 1 x 4 bed unit, into 4 x 1 bed units (net increase 2 units) together with the enlargement of existing lightwells to the front and rear of the building.
The property is in a terrace roughly opposite the South London Art Gallery, as suspected at the meeting.
This is the conversion of two maisonettes into four one-bedroom flats with some minor external changes to the rear of the property, South facing, to provide terraces, French windows replacing a ground floor door plus adjacent small window. Nothing of concern.
Internally the simple conversion creates a one bedroom flat per floor. Whilst these seem fine, the Ground Floor and First Floor, with the common access and stairway space taken off, do not meet London Plan current space standards for a one bedroom two person flat of 50M2, being about 46M2 GF and 40M2 FF plus a half landing store 3M2 - so 43M2.
I think this is for Southwark to decide if they will accept these lesser sizes or not.
