Champion Hill One Way Trial
The consultation on the trial one way system for Champion Hill returned a 57% favourable response. Accordingly Southwark Council have implemented the trial. The monitoring and evaluation period will run through to end of 2019 after which a further consultation will be held on making the change permanent. Residents at the top of Grove Lane report an increase in traffic backing up from Denmark Hill in the morning peak period. The Council have assembled an Engagement Forum that will meet every 3-4 months to review progress. At the first of these meetings there was criticism that there had been insufficient explanation as to what the closure was trying to achieve, especially as the closure trades benefits for one set of residents with dis-benefits for another set. the The Camberwell Society are attendees of the Engagement Forum and are watching developments.
