Erection of a single storey rear extension to dwellinghouse.
Comment: This is a retrospective application which was required because
one side of the extended kitchen is within 2m of the rear wall of the
adjacent property’s garage, and the ridge of the extension is 4.2m high,
thus not within the scope of automatically permitted development.
The extension doubles the size of the kitchen, which had been very small
for the size of the house, and also improves the appearance of the rear
elevation of the house by adding a bay window which matches the existing
bay windows at the front of the house.
Whilst it is regrettable that the application has been made
retrospectively, the extension will improve the facilities and
appearance of the house and will have only a marginal impact on the
adjacent property.
