Erection of 1st floor rear extension; shallow dome with roof light above
stairwell within existing roof structure; conversion and extension of
existing shed into new room to rear of house at ground floor level.
Comment: This is a less intrusive version of a proposal submitted in
2015. The Camberwell Society had objected to the previous application on
the grounds that it’s impact on the shape of the main house roof, one of
a symmetrical pair, was an unsympathetic intrusion. The present proposal
is more modest, consisting of a glazed dome over the centrally placed
oval staircase, in the lee of the flat roof of the first floor front
room, and a circular shower room extension tucked under the eaves of the
rear of the back addition. These interventions should add to the amenity
of the house without interfering with its historic character. The
Camberwell Society welcomes this proposal.
