Find Out About the Buildings of Grove Lane and Camberwell Grove - From the Inside!! Sunday 13th October

The Autumn History Walk this year is a fascinating insight into the buildings of Georgian Camberwell. Open to members and guests only, meet at 34 Grove Lane to buy a ticket for £6.00 per person (non-members can sign up in situ, please allow extra time or in advance at www.camberwellsociety.org.uk/membership). The walk starts at 3:00pm and finishes at the Vineyard for a cuppa or something else at 5pm, bring funds as refreshments are not included in the ticket price. You will join groups each of which will be visiting 4 houses in the area north of the railway. Each group will be led by an architect or historian knowledgeable in the subject. The intention is to show how the buildings have developed over the 1800's.

Save the afternoon for a fascinating exploration. Monies raised go toward the Society's charity of the year.

Sad News About Margaret

It is with great sorrow that we have to report that our dear friend and the esteemed editor of the Camberwell Quarterly, Margaret Powley-Baker, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning (9th September 2019). Margaret was a Camberwell resident for over 30 years and editor of the Quarterly for the last 10.

Her gentle wit and positive attitude to the foibles of life will be greatly missed.

RIP Margaret Powley-Baker (1934-2019)
