The Camberwell Society is delighted to announce the appointment of Justin Webb as its new President.
Justin Webb, the distinguished broadcaster and writer, is best known for his four decades as a BBC journalist and as a longstanding presenter on Radio 4’s Today programme. Justin has lived in Camberwell for many years and has a deep appreciation of the area’s unique history, culture and dynamism. His appointment follows the death of Nicholas Roskill, co-founder of the Camberwell Society in 1970 and the Society’s President since 2017.
Commenting on his appointment, Justin Webb said:
“Camberwell is London at its best. Living here is to be part of the maelstrom of modern life. Our diverse community, the beautiful historic buildings and the sheer energy that comes from a place with an art college, a major hospital and masses of small businesses, make for an exciting mix. I’m honoured to take on the role of President of the Camberwell Society and I look forward to supporting the Society’s work in preserving what makes Camberwell special while embracing the opportunities ahead.”
