New openings

FROM THE CAMBERWELL QUARTERLY

Tony Coleman on Camberwell Station Road’s facelift and our thriving night time economy

The main works to Camberwell Station Road will get going later this year. But the first five arches are already being renovated by Arch Co at the cost of £2m. The works will be completed in the next month or two when Arch Co will invite expressions of interest for the spaces. Will we see a craft brewery there to complement the thriving brewing scenes in Brixton, Loughborough Junction, Herne Hill and Peckham?

The Bear pub on the corner of Camberwell New Road is being reopened by the team responsible for the Naughty Piglets in Brixton. So, we might hope for some tasty food offerings.

New (post-pandemic) restaurants and pubs include Veraison Wines, Forza Win, Mama Funki (the cocktail bar below Forza Win), KOKO Asian Street Food and now the Bear.

Also expected soon are an outlet of Peckham Cellars, a revamped Pigeon and a restaurant come pub come b&b proposed for the old police station (planning applications 23/AP/0868-9).
