Walkway tribute for Nicholas Roskill

The late president of the Camberwell Society Nicholas Roskill was honoured last month when the alley opposite Love Walk that links Grove Lane and
Camberwell Grove was opened and named as Roskill Walk. His widow, Julia, cut the ribbon in front of a happy crowd of neighbours who had lobbied
the council to change the name of the previously unnamed walkway which had suddenly been signposted as Fred Francis, after a former Southwark mayor.

Nearby residents felt strongly that Roskill Walkway was more apt because Nicholas had often used the path during his decades of removing
graffiti from historic walls.

Councillor Ian Wingfield told the crowd that the name change showed how residents and the council can work together.
